Lynn 1 Tamworth 2

THE Linnets could not quite get a point on Tuesday night after a stirring second half fightback as midfielder Andrew Fisk saw red.
Lynn were outclassed in the first half, going 2-0 down. John Turner scored a great goal, but Fisk was sent off for a stoppage-time lunge on former Nottingham Forest defender Des Lyttle.
Linnets boss Keith Webb said: "In the first half we should have been one up but Scott Mitchell was denied with a good save.
"Then Tamworth played some good football and showed the difference between training three times in the morning and twice in the evening. There was some great movement.
"I thought we dominated the second half. We got closer to them, and stopped them playing.
"It was a good goal from John Turner. Luke Graham did well on his debut.
"Julian Joachim and Joe Francis looked lively when they came on, and I thought we should've got something from the game.
"I took Scott off as he had a little groin problem. Because the team were doing so well, and taking the game to them, I delayed making more substitutions.
"You want to keep that going, and don't want to disrupt the rhythm of your game.
"If we'd played 4-4-2 we would have got absolutely murdered, so we had to match them up."
On the red card, he added: "I thought the Tamworth players overreacted, and the referee followed suit. That's his prerogative.
"Des Lyttle made sure he wasn't going to get hurt by the tackle. I don't think he was trying to get the player sent off, but he's a wily old player."
Ben Sedgemore and Turner returned to bolster a five-man midfield, with Jack Defty the lone striker.

On five minutes Scott Mitchell brought a good diving save from David Bevan as early honours were even.
But league leaders the Lambs took control with slick passing and quick movement. Bradley Pritchard missed with a lob, while Lyttle’s 25-yarder flew past the post.
Alex Rodman took advantage of a harsh free-kick given against Charlie Defty to quickly slip the ball to Tom Shaw, who produced a good tip around the post by home goalkeeper Scott Howie.
But immediately on 18 minutes from the corner, Chris Smith converted in a goalmouth melee.
Just as Lynn were fighting back, came a quality strike from Alex Rodman, who collected a lovely ball from Shaw, cut in from the left and hammered home from the edge of the box.
Mitchell was Lynn’s main threat, firing over a lay-off from Jack Defty, who did well to direct a later header on target.
It was a different story in the second half as Lynn gave Tamworth no chance to regain their tempo.
Early doors loan defender Luke Graham on his debut somehow nodded wide from a corner.
Jack Defty was twice denied by Bevan, the second time with the keeper’s feet around the hour mark.
On 64 minutes Turner gave Lynn a lifeline when he showed pace and persistence to rob skipper Martin Foster and race clear to slam home.
Adam Smith volleyed over from 30 yards as the home team and crowd’s tails were up.
Sub Julian Joachim almost volleyed home with his first touch from 18 yards, while Tamworth sub Matt Birley fired one of their few chances woefully wide.
Fisk’s challenge earned a straight red just before the final whistle, which meant this was the third game in a row the Linnets had lost 2-1 to the Lambs.
