Lynn 5 Matlock 1

A MASKED crusader greeted Lynn's biggest win of the season and their 50th ever in the Northern Premier League on Saturday
The Smurf-like invader, sporting a full-length blue leotard and pink to-tu provided the most bizarre moment of the afternoon as he was chased and eventually caught and rugby-tackled to the floor by a number of stewards.
Before his surprise arrival, it was Matlock who had been left chasing shadows as the Linnets destroyed the Gladiators with a five-star showing at The Walks.
Ironically it was player-boss Carl Heggs, one of the older heads in the side, who played a pivotal role in the Matlock demise.
After Saturday's win, Heggs, who celebrated his birthday on the Sunday, said: "I'm really pleased to win a football match.
"The way we've won is a bonus. I'd have taken 1-0 in the 90th minute but to score five is always nice."
Matlock stunned the Lynn faithful by taking the lead in the sixth minute when Ross Hannah's 20-yard drive beat the despairing right hand of goalkeeper Danny Gay.

Four minutes later Lynn were handed a lifeline when Heggs went down under little pressure from Mark Baran in the box and Anthony Robinson tucked away the resulting spot-kick.
Lynn were then denied what looked to be a stonewall penalty as Owen Story was felled under challenge from Scott Brough, before the hosts took the lead from a corner.
Matlock failed to clear their lines and were made to pay when Story ran on to a Carl Palmer pass to crash an unstoppable shot past Sollitt. The never-say-day attitude of Heggs typified Lynn's performance during the afternoon and it was the manager who stabbed home from close range shortly after the restart.
Sollitt pulled off a fine double save to deny Robinson, who was found by debutant
and ex-Gladiator Curtis Shaw. Thirteen minutes from time Shaw blasted in from eight yards following more inept defending from the visitors.
Lynn's fifth and final goal arrived in the dying seconds when Ben Muirhead's cross was converted with ease by substitute Kwesi Appiah to round off a satisfying afternoon for all.
