Bill Cleary
Bill Cleary was associated with Lynn over a number of years - as a player, director and a manager.

His playing career began with South Bank East End and Sunderland (without making a first team appearance) but in 1953 he moved to Norwich City where he made 22 appearances  before moving to Wisbech and then to Port Vale. He returned to East Anglia to play for Boston United and was signed from them by Lynn manager Len Richley in the summer of 1959.

He played for Lynn for two seasons, making 95 appearances and scoring just the one goal, that in a 3-1 victory over Gothic in the Norfolk Senior Cup. On leaving Lynn he returned to Fenland Park where he saw out his playing career - making a further 55 appearances.
The turmoil of the 1980's saw Bill return to Lynn as a  director and when Freddie Easthall departed the managerial hotseat in March 1987 he took over as manager for the remainder of that season - some 11 matches - although he could do nothing to prevent relegation.
Bill Cleary left the club in 1988, moving back to Norwich, and died 12 March 1991.
