Lynn 1 Leicester City 3

YOU can never read too much into pre-season matches, but the new-look Linnets showed enough in the first hour of this match to suggest they will be a force to be reckoned with in the UniBond League next season.
Three goals in the final 13 minutes gave the final scoreline a rather flattering look in Leicester’s favour after the customary flurry of changes had halted Lynn’s promising start.
Linnets boss Carl Heggs was delighted with the workout against The Foxes, who included the likes of DJ Campbell in their line-up.
Heggs said: "I was delighted with the team. Everything we worked on, the boys put into practice.
"Don’t forget that was only the second game we have played, against a Championship club, with the likes of DJ Campbell playing.
"The result means nothing to me and by the time Leicester equalised I’d made four changes.
"We ran out of legs a little bit and I had to laugh to myself a bit because they were bringing on fit, 21-year-old Championship-quality footballers and, with all respect to my side, I’ve got part-time players."
Campbell, who moved to The Walkers Stadium from Birmingham for 1.6 million in 2007, was kept relatively quiet by Lynn’s centre-half pairing of Craig McAughtrie and trialist Andy Boyce in the first period – just two of a number of encouraging performances for the hosts.

"Craig and Andy were magnificent. You have to remember I’d only had the chance to coach Andy a couple of hours before the game," said Heggs.
"We’ve got a defence who could work as window cleaners without ladders.
"We are set up to soak up pressure with two banks of four and hit teams on the break.
"Our training is geared up to knowing what we are doing without the ball because too many non-league managers only worry about what they do with it.
"I want us to be the best side with and without the ball and although Leicester had plenty of possession in the first hour they didn’t really hurt us."
Lynn, who looked to hit their visitors on the break, took the lead in the 24th minute when the impressive Owen Story teed-up Matt Birley to slide the ball into the Leicester net.
Leicester levelled 13 minutes from time through Jorrin John, before taking the lead a minute later through fellow substitute Ricky Sappleton.
Sappleton then converted Levi Porter’s pass in the dying minutes to complete the scoring.
